I grew up with music always playing in the house, so it’s always been something that my life has been intertwined with. It wasn’t until I was in 3rd grade and Green Day released American Idiot where I felt a true personal connection to music. I just remember listening to that record on repeat, thinking it was the coolest thing in the world, and that I needed to learn how to do it myself.
I took private lessons from Nick Schillace at Orion Music Studio for about 10 years before moving on to study under the direction of Chuck Newsome at Wayne State University where I received a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in music.
I’ve played with a lot of musicians throughout the years, but I listen to just about anything that I can get my hands on which has helped develop my style the most. I really enjoy messing around with different instrumentation and themes while remaining honest in my writing.
My biggest influences include Green Day, Deftones, Korn, Tool, Post Malone, Led Zeppelin, Kendrick Lamar, and Tom Delonge (Blink-182, Angels & Airwaves, Box Car Racer). I've also gotten really into Billy Strings, Wolf Alice, and synth wave bands like The Midnight and Gunship recently. Those bands have really made an impact on my approach to playing and writing.
I'm currently writing with the former vocalist of State of Mine, Jay Gearhart. We've got a lot of material in the works that I'm super stoked for people to hear.
I also play with several cover bands. You can catch me with Rachelle Rae and Class of 98 on select dates. I also have another cover project getting cooked up with some good friends of mine. We probably won't roll that out until summer/fall of '25.
Jay Gearhart and I have been cranking out tunes which has been an absolute blast. I'm so grateful to work with a guy like Jay. I've also been working on material for my solo project with multiple vocalists and producers. There's going to be a lot of music coming out in 2025.
First off, I’m so thankful to be doing what I’m doing. I’ve met some of my best friends while working in the industry, I’ve learned a lot about myself (and still am) while having an escape I can always count on. I absolutely love hanging out and writing with the most down to earth people in the studio. When we're working everybody is extremely focused, but when we're just hanging it's like being a kid again.
In terms of live performance, I love looking out into the crowd and seeing hundreds to thousands of people escape reality for a couple of hours when playing.
I play a PRS S2 Custom 24, a 2015 core PRS Mark Holcomb Custom 24, a Gibson Les Paul Custom, a custom Mayones baritone 8 string, and a Jackson B7 custom I acquired from Josh Smith of Northlane. I also play Spector and Dingwall bass guitars.
I also play drums, ukulele, and piano. I recently bought a Native Instruments Maschine Studio from Mark Hoppus of Blink-182, trying to work on my production skills and beat making a bit more.
I love paddle boarding, kayaking, skateboarding, downhill longboarding, and hiking. I spend a lot of time indoors so anytime spent being active outdoors is a breath of fresh air (no pun intended). I also love reading about mysticism, consciousness, UFOs, and the occult.
We’re all the same. Same problems, just different bodies. Whether it be music you can space out to, mosh to, or cry to, I just want to provide an escape while connecting people around the world.
